Twitter told the ever-vigilant Majorie Taylor Greene that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had ordered his military to abuse and torture the Ukrainian people. She felt compelled to warn her supporters of this wanton brutality. And challenged the US to demand that Zelensky stop it. She added that she was horrified that hard-earned American tax dollars were buying ‘possible Nazi militias’ lethal aid to torture innocent people, especially children and women. Here’s her tweet highlighting her source for this terrible news,
Where on earth did this benighted woman find this patently obvious Russian propaganda? It will come as no surprise that the source was a Russian propaganda outlet. How do I know? Because the Twitter account she retweeted publishes videos clearly identified as coming from a Russian ‘news’ outlet.
Let me explain. “Juan Sinmiedo @Youblacksoul” is a Twitter account that tweets nothing put anti-Zelensky, anti-Ukraine material. One go-to source for ‘Juan Sinmiedo’ (Sp. for ‘John without fear’) is ‘ANNA’ (See picture)
ANNA was founded as the “Abkhazian Network News Agency in the Abkhazia province of Georgia in 2011. Abkhazia is notable as the region that attempted to break away from Georgia after the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. That conflict led to the Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008. Parallels to the Donbas and Luhansk regions of Ukraine are stark.
In 2017 ANNA moved its head office moved to Moscow, And "Abkhazian" was changed to “Analytical”. It is now a pro-Kremlin news source (Click this link for the English version anna-news.info/… Or this one for the original Russian https://anna-news.info/
There are two ways I could know this information. One, I am an expert on post-Soviet political/military/media history. Or two, I spent five minutes on the internet. (Hint I am no post-Soviet expert). Greene either could not be bothered to do the same or knows that she is publishing Russian propaganda. I am going to use Hanlon’s razor to decide. In 1974, Robert J. Hanlon formulated a thought long expressed. To wit, “never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." And Greene has proved, time and again, that when it comes to stupidity, she has been richly blessed by her God.
And talking of her God, this doltish behavior owes a lot to Donald Trump’s own idiocy. So smitten is she by the Mango Messiah that confirmation bias will stop her questioning the truth of what she wants to hear. And precludes her from doing any research — or even asking America’s intelligence apparatus. Although, as she thinks that professional body is no more than a deep state sewer, she would not believe anything they said that contradicted her delusions anyway.
So let’s look at some history.
When Russia invaded the sovereign territory of Ukraine it did so with little support in the Western world. The American right-wing was an exception. Putin's leading knob-polisher, the one-and-done Trump, led the cheer squad with a declaration that Russia’s strong man was brilliantly playing a winning hand. On Feb 22, he told conservative radio hosts, Buck Sexton and Clay Travis,
"I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, 'This is genius.' Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine -- of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that's wonderful."
Lindsey Graham claimed that Trump had ‘misspoke’. But the sweat stain in a suit gainsaid that assessment by doubling down when addressing a fund-raiser at Mar a Lago. He told the soon to be fleeced,
"They say, 'Trump said Putin's smart.' I mean, he's taking over a country for two dollars' worth of sanctions. I'd say that's pretty smart. He's taking over a country -- really a vast, vast location, a great piece of land with a lot of people, and just walking right in."
Like all Trumpian analysis, it was both pithy and over the top — while being completely wrong. As the Russian advance bogged down the “just walking right in” became “stuck in a quagmire with second-rate weapons, a third-rate plan, and fourth-rate leadership while being shredded by a first-rate defense”
This raises the question. Why does the American right have such an affection for Russia’s sociopathic peacock? Perhaps some like his willingness to whip his shirt off. Others might have masochist fantasies of being under the sadist's boot. But the best explanation is that Putin hates gays just as much as America’s right-wing evangelicals. And he managed to get his bigotry to be official Russian policy with the enactment of the 2013 anti-gay act “for the Purpose of Protecting Children from Information Advocating for a Denial of Traditional Family Values." Also known as the “Gay Propaganda Act”. (Or in current parlance, the “Don’t Say Gay Act”.)
Hate, it’s the tie that binds.
Your descriptions of Trump and Putin are perfect, and why you're a writer, thanks Pitt
